Everyone will have their opinions, but if your computer can handle it, why not install both? Compare the features of Thunderbird, and compare them against Outlook. I use outlook because it syncs perfect with my corporate work account and also works very well with the office communicator. I've got 1 pop3 account, 1 imap account, and 1 exchange account on outlook all with multiple folders, and don't have problems with it. Kind of depends on your computer and what it can handle.

If you have a lot of emails or large attachments, then, IMO, Thunderbird is infinitely better for storage than Outlook.

I use Thunderbird, and Melissa uses Outlook, but she regularly has problems when her PST files get too large. Every few months, we have to create new PST files and start moving emails over.

Thunderbird also seems to run a lot faster for me. I once had Outlook, but after changing to Thunderbird, the entire computer runs faster.

Outlook does have more options by default, though (like a calendar), but you can download numerous add-ins for Thunderbird. It's been awhile since I've done that, so I don't recall the links for those add-ins, but I know that hundreds exist and are usually free.

POP3 email account(s) is any account that's on the web such as hotmail, yahoo, and etc.. I recommend outlook as it's super easy to integrate any pop3/exchange email account and it's super easy to navigate and use.

Here is a real good pdf file that explains outlook 2007

Thunder bird mail client works good for POP3 mail accounts. I still prefer online mail service thou
