Windows for Workgroups 3.11?? I bet it would fly on Me hardware!!
It would be kinda fun, if I had the installation media (and a floppy drive!), to run it on a virtual machine . . .
tee hee :)

Just downgrade to Dos 4.0 and WFW 3.11. You'll get great system performance then. :)

If you do decide to do it, let us know how much RAM you have first. You can right-clikc on "My Computer" and then choose properties. It should have it listed.
If it is too low, you will want to add RAM. I personally recommend 512 MB as a minimum, but 256 MB would be an absolute minimum if you want any chance of decent performance at all.
I don't think that Me will tell you much about your CPU (processor), but if it does, please post that as well.
Good luck.

Erase the drive and start fresh with the XP disk. ME and 2000 were filled with tons of bugs and issues. They just gave up on ME.
I Used to work for them.

Agreed, you'd be better off running win98 than winME. Backup your data, make sure you have drivers already downloaded for XP (or at least for your network adapter if you have broadband, modem if dialup, as well as your motherboard/chipset drivers if needed), and let XP reformat the drive for you. With a default XP installation without the bloatware from a PC manufacturer, you shouldn't see a decrease in performance at all as long as your hardware is above the minimum level for XP.
If it DOES run slow, there are many modded/customized versions of XP that have been developed for older machines available for download that are perfectly legal to use, since you would be installing it with your own legal and legit XP key (right?) - Some as small as 130mb in install files, with a 10 second boot time.

You probably don't want to do this "upgrade". Windows Me is a lot less "bulky" than XP and if you put XP on the hardware that came with your Me installation, it will run horribly . . .
I am an experienced computer tech, take my word, you will very likely regret doing it.
