Thank you guys very much. I will call Direct, and tell them about this. I think you've solved my problem.
And now I can sound like I really know what I'm talking about when I throw that lnb line out there. Ha ha.

ROKU is a box like a cable box that will turn ur tv bascially into a computer so u can get movies over the internet on your tv ,and a PS3 is a video game system

the lnb is the round thing sticking out from the dish, it has a circut board in it and it might just be getting to the point where the heat of the day is overheating the lnb

Ok... Sleepy, that makes the most sense. I have no idea what an lnb is, but all this talk about trees and leaves is not the answer.
Yes there are still trees back there, and plenty of them. No they don't have leaves in the Winter time, but they do at night all summer long.
It can rain cats and dogs, and I don't lose signal very often, and then only for a few minutes.
It has something to do with the sun, and the lnb could just be it.
Now just what is an lnb anyway? And while you're at it, what is a ROKU, and a PS3.
Hey, I live a simple stress free life. What can I say?

how long have you had the dish? it might be time to replace the lnb on the dish i would call direct tv and have someone come out and check your equipment, it could be a cable line that is expending in the heat of the day causeing loss of signal

I don't have an answer for your problem but I would like to know why my Directtv goes out at the mere suggestion of a rain drop? It can thunder somewhere else in the county and it goes out and starts searching.
We had DishNetwork mounted at almost the same position on the house and rain never interfered with it. I'm puzzled but haven't taken the time to call and complain, lol.

Have them come out and replace the lnb on your dish. If it's cool it works, if it heats up during day time it goes bad. Like the Lady said, something is overheating.

Actually the timber has been cut, and there really are none in the way. Since it works perfectly when the sun goes down, I figure it must have something to do with the sun.
I could not get a signal for years due to the forest behind my house directly in the way, but now the trees have been cut.
I have had Direct for about 5 yrs, and the problem started last summer. You know, the sun has been making news lately, and is supposed to do even stranger things next year.

| Well Ump, you may have a point, and I just knew someone would say that.
Never mind those same trees are standing in the same place at night, and all Winter.

Singer, you can get a Roku and watch streaming Netflix over your TV. It really is great. Movies, TV series, documentaries, all commercial free.

If ur dish is aimed toward tall trees it will effect the signal in the Summer months when there r leaves on the trees....but not in the winter because there r no leaves....I know this because I have the same problem but only if the wind is blowing....top ur trees and ur problem will probably stop....Good Luck

I have been with Direct for years. They are great to work with. No complaints about Customer service. I have not told them about this really, since I figured they would just tell me to do what I'm doing anyway.
Did not know about red button, will try that next time, and there WILL be a next time.
Net flix, never heard of it. Just googled, and if it is about watching TV on my computer, forget it. I like my easy chair in front of TV.
I am not into movies. I fast forward through most of them anyway. Movies are not what they used to be.

Did you press the 'reset' button on the box? It's a red button under that flip-down door on the right side front.
Otherwise I would call Support. The few times I've had to call them they have been very nice and responsive.
