I have four roku boxes in my house. I pay 11.99 a month to watch on four tvs. I have hulu plus and I pay 7.99 for that. I can watch every TV show on hulu plus that is on TV. I pay 40 for Internet so that's 60 a month . That's way better than $100 plus a month on cable plus Internet. I have had this setup for about two years now.

It's perfectly legal to rip a DVD if you own and compress it into .avi, ect. A movie at 700MB is decent enough that I really can't tell the difference from the actually DVD. Of course if you're using the right software you can rip it at any size of your choosing.

Blurays are a different story.

Actually you can type in "Full Movie" on youtube and find tons of free movies. Not sure about the legalities but they're there. Some are even in HD.

The WD piece isn't for the tech novice. If you aren't comfortable ripping discs or illegally downloading torrents, then stick with the roku. Or even more simple is Apple TV. Except with it you will have to buy content from iTunes.

Nothing will provide you with free TV service legally. All options will require you to subscribe to services like Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, etc

I bought this instead of a Roku. It has Netflix along with similar programs. I can stream movies/music/photos/files from my laptop to it as well.

Also I have my external hard drive plugged into it too. It has two slots for USB. Also has HDMI, you can get a HDMI cord for around 5 bucks on Amazon.

I'm sure it has more options but I haven't updated the firmware on mine for other reasons.

Just wondering if anyone uses a Roku and if so, looking for some feedback. We are looking to ditch our costly cable and wondering if this is a good option. Thanks
