Restore Recycle Bin to Desktop

I LOVE playing with the registry! Editing seemingly random bits of binary code from one thing you don't understand to another thing that you don't understand, while all along knowing that a single typo can make your computer unusable forever... now THAT's exhilarating!

"manually edit the registry"

Insanity, as its best.

Walk on.

Are you using XP or Vista?

If you're using Vista, just right-click on the desktop and go to Personalize > Change Desktop Icons, then check the recycle bin box at the top.

If you're using XP, it's a bit more complicated. The EASY solution would be to download Tweak UI, then use it to turn off the Recycle Bin, then turn it back on. Here's the link to download Tweak UI:

http://www.microsoft.com/wi...

If that doesn't work, the alternative is to manually edit the registry. Let me know if this is necessary and I'll walk you through it.

It happened so quick, that I don't know what happened. My recycle bin icon disappeared off of the desktop. I tried to get it back on the desktop and all I get is a shortcut. Although I can still access the bin with this, I want the original bin back. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to accomplish this.
