Is it new RAM? Or did you acquire it via Ebay or some other such means? By showing with hp, you mean you right click 'My Computer' and get the total you expect to get? If so, maybe it's just AOL (AOL is the devil btw, boooo).

Good things to remember to keep your PC healthy:

When installing new hardware, do so in an area with as little dust as possible. Also touch the metal of the chasis to discharge any static you may have built up - the tiniest bits of static can fry your hardware (hopefully this isn't the cause of your woes). If you're the really paranoid type, you can purchase a grounding bracelet from Radio Shack.

Keep an up to date anti-virus program handy.

Keep an anti-spyware tool handy, run it frequently.

Defragment your hard drive occasionally.

Try not to turn your machine off via the physical off button, this can cause all sorts of nasty little issues.

I recently added 256mb of memory to my computer. It shows up with HP, but when I do the computer checkup with AOL it doesn't show. I have a lot of freezing and lost connections. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this problem? Thank You
