With the exception of a handful of threads pre-2008 (the infamous database error), they should all be there dating back to 2004. Unless, of course, I removed the thread for some reason: libel, vulgarity, etc. We don't remove any threads based on age.

After 30 days, all threads are automatically closed for comment. This means that they're moved from the main database to an archive database (on a separate server), which helps the main database to respond more quickly.

What are the rules for when old threads are closed for comment?

I've googled old threads, and see that old topics no longer have a reply box; or I get the "page not found" error message.

There seems to be little consistency.
