He wants a PS3 because he prefers it over the Xbox 360. The truth is the PS3 is better under the hood. It has way more graphics power. If you weigh out the pros and cons of both then the PS3 wins with great ease. Get him a PS3. Games with stunning graphics our usually important to only the most picky and avid gamers though like I used to be.

The Wii is actually alot of fun and is something to consider if he is less than 13 years of age. If you get the Wii keep in mind it is very family friendly and it's games are geared towards kids. It will not have very good graphics on 85% or more roughly game titles.

If you do however decide to go with the Wii, you can get him more games instead of just one or likely none in this poor economy and possibly some clothes that he needs for the new spring semester @ school. If he has reached the 7th grade than don't get the Wii.

Also, I have used XBOX 360s for many years with no problems with overheating. Setting them in a ventilated location and dusting daily will ensure any electronic device continues to operate and function at optimal performance levels for years to come.

Following the above information, if you do have a very specific older model of the 360, it has been the most trouble out of them all. If you purchase a new 360 Slim, you will not experience any issues, but you should get a warranty with it just in case.

On another note, the PS2 slim model had a similar issue with overheating, but they have not had any notable issues in the last few years.

So, when deciding between either of these systems, there are many variables to take into consideration. Each has its PROS and CONS, but the PS3 is internet ready and has a wide variety of high graphic games available. The XBOX has a more family fun aura about it, but has previous overheating issues more recently than the PS3.

PICK AND CHOOSE :)

PS3's are great, and you will be able to get online immediately, browse the web through built in browser, good graphics too and vast game availability. The online games are hosted from Playstation servers that are a bit laggy.

XBOX 360 requires a monthly/yearly subscription to play online. Xbox has the player with the best internet speed host the matches, but sometimes even that can get laggy. Xbox Kinect sensor is just amazing! The community is fantastic, and xbox support is phenomenal.

Both systems are great, and both have the option of additional devices to increase their interactive capabilities. Although, the xbox lacks two things: web browser, blu-ray play ability.

Only if they have one of the older PS3s with the emotion chip. They will all play PS1 games, but you have to have the certain type of PS3s (the old style with the 20gb or 60gb HD) to actually play the PS2 games.

The RROD for Xbox can be avoided if you make sure you put it in a well ventilated area. Putting it in an entertainment center will cause it to burn up a whole lot quicker.

IF they have a PS2 or PSOne the games will work with then new system. Sony makes a better product and and the ps3 is a Blue ray player also.

Xbox's seem to have heat issues google Red ring death

Don't buy a used xbox unless you know a lot about them. You'll either buy one that overheats or is banned from xbox live.

Get a PS3 instead.

My children are wanting a PS3 for Christmas and this will be his only big present. Could someone please tell me the difference between the PS3 and X-box 360? I see 360s on here for sale all the time, but never PS3. Which one is better?
