problem with Outlook

You're really asking 2 questions here, so I'll answer the easy one first.

1. To back up your Outlook files, the easiest method is to go to File > Import and Export, then click to "Export to a file". You can choose what you want to export it, and you'll probably want to export everything.

Save these to a separate directory, then you can uninstall and reinstall Outlook. Then, just go back to File > Import and Export, then click to Import. You can then choose the files that you had exported.

Another method that I find easier is to go to Start > Search, and search for any file containing ".pst" (without the quotes). Once you find these files, then you can copy the entire folder into a separate folder to back them up. Then, once you reinstall Outlook, you can copy them back into their original locations.

2. This probably won't solve your problem, though. It sounds like your antivirus program is conflicting with your Outlook, so the problem is with the antivirus program. I wish that you hadn't renewed it, because I would usually recommend that you just get rid of it altogether, and instead use a free one like Avast to just manually scan your computer once a month or so.

But in this case, your solution will probably be to change the setting in your antivirus program to stop scanning emails automatically.

This may have already been posted, are there any pro's here on Microsoft Outlook? I am having problems with it. PC is running very slow at times. Seems like most began recently when I renewed the virus protection but has been giving small problems for a while.
Example. I get e-mails from some and notice that this e-mail is in the outbox also. I cannot send any mails out until I go into outbox and delete this e-mail. Not all e-mails hang in the outbox when I receive them. What causes this problem?
Also When I try to forward a lengthy e-mail or one with a picture to more than one person the darned thing try to send and then gives sender error message. I then must go in outbox and delete all by one and send one at a time.
Is there a way I can disable the current outlook, keep all my addresses and then install outlook again and transfer my address to the new outlook?
PM to carolinapi@charter.net please.
