Calla, I've been tempted to use off-brand cartridges, but they void the warranty. Of course as cheap as printers are, I suppose this shouldn't be much of a concern. Have you found any down-side to using them? Any spilled ink, dry cartridges, cartridges not fully filled, etc.? Just curious. I print a lot of on-line magazine articles, and ink is expensive. TOO expensive!

Thank you for the referral coolgm. smskelly like others have said it may be in your best interest to invest in a Photo printer but I can take a look at it for you and see if it will be better to just fix this one. http://www.pro-tech.5u.com 336 262 2945

I buy my ink cartridges from 123Inkjets.com, and the less expensive "copies" of the Name brand ink are just as good, and a heck of a lot cheaper! I am no my tritd printer in 12 years, and I have to say that the Canonthat uses separate color cartridges is the most cost efficient of all I have seen! When you run out of blue, you don't hav e to replace the whole color cartrudge, just the blue one! Love it!

I went and bought a new one, a Kodak, about 5 months ago and have not had to buy ink yet for it. It prints pics really nice too and the price was very reasonable. I was on sale for $89, the ink refills cost $25 for color and black. Quite a bit cheaper than the HP I was using

Did you move it to another computer, or is it still connected to the original?
If you moved it to another computer, you may need to install the drivers.
Everything is not as plug and play as they would like them to be.

A while back I had a ink jet stopped up, everywhere i checked to see about working on it told me it was cheaper to buy another one, just happens mine was still under warrenty by the company it came from they sent me another one, if yours is less than a year old this may fall true 4 you, if not call the company that made it and ask them what you ought to do

HP, Epson, and Lexmark all make great printers. Kodak makes printers that are photo-centric, and they claim cost less to operate than other brands over time (lower ink cost).

all that is wrong is it keeps saying out of paper. The paper feed won't feed the paper. I contacted HP and tried all that it says to do and it still doesn't work. It worked great until I moved it to a different location. It is a nice printer over 300.00 but i can't get it to work and I hate to just buy another one and have the same problems with it. what are some good brands. I use it for prctures mostly. I have one for documents that we only use black ink for.

I just bought a new one because the replacement ink for my old one cost more than a new one. However it depends on the type of printer you have. If it's a laser or large format device that cost several hundreds or thousands of dollars it would probably be worth looking into getting repaired.

yes, you can purchase a new one cheaper than having one fixed.

You can practically buy a new desktop printer for the price of an ink cartridge.
Unless you have a very expensive business prnter, the cost will not be justified.
