Yes, most are made in China. But the OEM ones have to meet specs set by the manufacturer. The cheap knock offs can even be dangerous and even cause batteries to explode. I bought a cheap one and it killed a battery. Wouldnt hold a charge at all after using a knock off cord.

I got a power cord on line for my gateway laptop last year around 4 or 5 bucks 6.95 shipping works good .
Made in china just like the one that came with it. Almost all brand name laptop power cord are made in china.

Dont buy a cheap replacement. The cheap ones are made in china and are very poor quality. The cords are short and they can damage your battery.
