AVG, Avast, and all the other free anti-virus programs will only slow your computer down to a halt, and they will not remove viruses. With the description you have provided, I can see that you will definitely need to un-install all anti-virus and install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials).

First, download the file for MSE saving it to your desktop, then before installing, remove all anti-virus and restart your computer. When it has restarted, double-click the MSE file and install following the installation prompts.

After the installation is done, it will update and perform a quick scan of your pc. If it does find anything malicious, allow it to remove all instances.

Restart your computer after the removal is finished and your computer will be protected from most threats online. Also, MSE runs on a very small amount of RAM, so your computer will never be slowed down.

Now, once you are protected from online threats, you need to find a browser that has some good add-ons or plugins to protect from pop-ups.

My favorite is Mozilla Firefox. Once you install it, use the Firefox drop-down menu at the top left to select Add-ons, and the search for "Ad-block Plus", then add "WOT" a safe search option that will protect you from visiting bad sites.

Once these add-ons are installed, it will be virtually impossible to be interrupted while browsing online. Plus, you will be quietly protected by a Microsoft Certified Anti-Virus Protection.

Hopefully, this information will be helpful.

Thanks,

Devin Martinez

There are no pop-up ads on GoWilkes (never has been), so you are almost definitely infected with a virus or spyware.

If you're seeing a lot of pop-ups, then odds are that you are infected with a virus and/or spyware. This is especially true if you use Facebook at all.

Go to http://www.download.com, and download both AVG Antivirus Free and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. These are two excellent (free) programs that should remove most viruses and spyware.

...turn off your internet connection.

Other than that, default settings for all modern browsers try to block them by default as best they can. Upgrade your browser.
