The problem I have with Alienware is its big time money mostly for the name. So I highly doubt I'll take that route.

My goal - a laptop to replace my outdated desktop. It needs to be able to handle the top of the line in video games, and stay around the 2-3k range.

Top candidate-

Dell XPS m170
2.26ghz Intel Pentium M
2gig RAM
100gb 7200rpm HD (how much better than the 5400 does this actually perform?)
17" Monitor
Windows XP

How well do the Pentium Ms stack up? How well would this run the top of the market games? I am really trying to avoid a desktop, since my goal is to get rid of this massive desk and gain more space.
