change IDE cable, rare but can go bad

1) switch the CD and HD connectors

2) try another cable

3) recheck drive id jumper on CDrom

4) connect only the HD, no CDROM

Have a Dell Dimension 3000 . P-4. A02 bios. Problem is mb will not recognize the harddrive. Keeps booting up with (Primary harddrive 0 not found). Tried different drives (known working hd) still same reply.Put the cable in the other slot and get the same thing.No problem with the cdrom..
