I downloaded avast. Thank you all for help.

I use Avast, and have for years, I replaced the antivirus that came on my desktop PC, even though it hadn't expired yet. Avast does a better job.


It's on every single one of my Windows PCs (my little EEE PC with Ubuntu doesn't need antivirus!), and it's free!

In my opinion the best there is and costs $39.95 a year and updated at least one a week, more often if there are a lot of virus activity in your area. I have had it update twice in one day

My Norton antivirus has expired. Are there any free downloads of antivirus that work? If so can you give me a link to download.I know there is AVG, but wasn't sure if it is the same thing as norton. Is it basically the same and as good as norton? I don't even know if it is comparable. I figure it must not be or it wouldn't be free. I guess it's better than nothing though.
