How old is your child? Maybe he/she could get tunes from her friends, either by borrowing CD's or by uploading them to the computer from another MP3 player and then loading them to the MP3 player. Most kids like the same music and with so many people having CD's and MP3's this would be the most cost effective and easiest way for your child to have the music that her friends listen to. Just a suggestion though.

UseNET server. You can download more than one song at a time, you don't have to rely on the somebody else's internet connection, and it's much faster to browse through mp3 groups.

It's really for the hardcore music downloaders, but a little bit of knowledge will take you a long way.

IF you do not have an Ipod, then Amazon would be the best choice. The selection is great, the prices are good, and whatever you download can be used in an Ipod should you get one later.

Itunes is always the best standby. They have anything and everything you could want.

My child just got an MP3 player. What is the best site to use for downloading music? I'm looking for a site that is cheap to use as I doubt he will use it much. The book that came with the MP3 suggests emusic.com/RCAaudio.
