Again, your problem with Yahoo mail seems to have more to do with Yahoo preference settings than your computer, and I doubt that Facebook has anything to do with that. I don't use yahoo, or hotmail, or gmail, I have a dedicated email address through my ISP, and don't allow Facebook notifications to post on it. Just experiment with your preferences through Yahoo, it shouldn't be an issue....also, if you don't have it, now is a good time to invest in MacKeeper for your Mac. Its a great program with powerful utilities, and its an antivirus/anti-phishing/anti-spam, etc, for $29.99 with free lifetime updates, although they WILL release new versions every year or so, offered at $19.99. Do NOT use Norton or McAfee, nor Kaspersky. Windows shares a common registry with all its programs, which makes it vulnerable to hacking. Mac does not. Each program has its own separate pipeline, and its MUCH more difficult to breach security. Mac takes pretty good care of itself.

Everytime I log on to facebook my computer acts screwy for days. I've been told that it is loaded with viruses and other pests, so I have simply quit using it. The only program that seems to override all the junk is Norton Security Suite and it makes my computer more unstable than Facebook. Go figure!
Good luck though!

Log into Facebook. Beside the "Home" prompt in upper right hand side, click the downward facing arrowhead (drop down menu). Select "account settings", then "notifications" on left side. Underneath "All Notifications", about midway down, you will see a list. It begins with "Facebook" Click one individually, and de-select the options that you do NOT want. To choose your homepage, and get rid of Facebook as your homepage, open Safari, click "Preferences" under "Safari", and then click "General". You can then either click "set to Current Page" to select current page as your homepage, or conversely, you can type the address of the page you want to choose as your homepage in the Homepage field. Remember to save. Hope this helps!

When you go into notifications, I actually had to go to each individual section and turn off every listing underneath each separate header to get mine to stop commandering my email. It can be uber annoying, but SM is right, it is Facebook, not the computer.

I cannot receive emails with attachments unless I click on the email and then I get the wheel of death. I then have to restart the computer to receive the attachment. I am not able to delete ANY facebook messages from my mail account. That is really frustrating.
This is all coming through yahoo.
Can you help?

My little brother signed me up for facebook and it is taking over my email and homepage. The homepage I was able to fix, my email is f'd up. Can anybody out there help me. Apple wants $70 to fix it for a year and I refuse to pay that.
Not to mention that anybody you talk to from apple you can hardly understand. I am glad they have jobs (not Steve obviously) but darn where did the customer service go?
