ok i'm gonna try explaining this limewire is a p2p(peer 2 peer) file sharing program .it allows you to download music from other peers (the music files stay on your comp and other peers share from your files 2) in a couple of different formats (mp3 ,wmf, flac) ... then you manually transfer it to a burning program to burn it into a playable cd (confused yet) its not as hard or confusing as it sounds you should be able to figure it out in less than a day or a couple of bad headache's

you would actually be better off using a bittorrent client like..utorrent,azureus,bittornado and a "reputable torrent site" to dl music /vid //movies/games/software from or (if ya wanna pay a lil) a usenext client

Oh yeah and Limewire is about trusting strangers out there. It's a file sharing system.. so you are really trusting people to not sneak a virus into their files that you download.
Another thing that helps your Limewire run faster is if YOU SHARE YOUR FILES as well... I only share my music files... no way will I share my pics and documents files.. which some people actually do. I have about 400 music files that I share/... and it's fun to check the logging and see which of my files other people have downloaded. (I'm easily amused).

I don't know all that much about virus protection... maybe Satan can help you with that. We use an old desktop JUST FOR Limewire so it won't be so bad if it blows up with viruses haha/... I refuse to have Limewire on my laptop though.

Just go to limewire.com and click download on the free version. MAKE SURE THOUGH THAT YOU EITHER HAVE AN AWESOME VIRUS PROTECTION, OR IT'S A COMPUTER THAT YOU DON'T CARE TOO MUCH IF IT GETS VIRUSES!!! I know that Limewire might say it's virus-free.. but it is talking about the actual application... NOT the things you are downloading.
Make sure that you set up limewire's file saving to either My Music or to the library of whatever media player that you burn CDs to... this makes for easier to find files. This can be done in options or preferences... can't really remember.
