Legaly I must say, do not work on it with it plugged in and to unplug the power first. Now with that said, I have no idea how you can check the voltage with the power off. So just find someone that does not care if the get shocked (like me) and let them do it.

Thanks!.. i think. I'll have to do some research for sure... i've just kinda jumped into this whole custom console/ retro gaming thing and need to spend more time on how to do these things right... especially since i have never done anything even remotely electronic..

It is possible to check the voltage coming out the the power supply and add a voltage regulator for the voltage you are needing for the LEDs.

perhaps... i plan on getting started soon. Ive just never thought about adding another power source..

You can add a second power supply the the system just to run the LEDs.

Has anyone here tried to install LED lights into a game system for Modding purposes? Ive not researched this yet... I'm getting ready to do a case mod on a Super Nintendo System. Perhaps with mods on Sega Genesis/ N64/ Gamecube and Nes soon.... Also i would like to get any painting tips if anyone should know any. I have seen some great system mods on youtube that were done with some automotive paint and clearcoat...
