You first need to decide what is causing the noise.

Harddrive If so you need to back up data cause it is about to go bad.

CD/DVD drive happens as Laptops get older. could be dust or just going bad.

Fan then you need to take it to a good shop. Fan will most likely need to be replaced.

Probably one of the fans. Since it's 4 years old, it will likely be a pain to tear down completely to clean them out/replace them. I'd suggest taking it to a reputable shop of your choice - and not letting a 12 year old cousin fix this one - laptops and their thin ribbon cables are very fragile on the inside.

And DONT just attack the outside of the fan port with a can of air - blowing it back into the laptop will do more harm than good!

I have had my laptop for about 4 years and it seems that it runs louder than it used to. What could be causing this?
