After you press the power button keep pressing the F8 button. Your computer will come up and with some choices with one being Safe mode. GO into that and you can change the password from there.

You would probably want to reinstall the operating system anyway. Did it come with a restore CD, or a copy of the XP disk? If not, does it have a sticker on the bottom of it with an XP Pro or Home Edition Product Key?

If you google UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD), and burn that from another computer, it also has several tools for resetting the Administrator and other account passwords, without needing to get into the computer first...

I have the admin. come up wanting a password. None of these help. I can't get on there to go to the control panel. The login askinf for a password is the only thing on there. Thanks

The Administrator pass word is usually blanlk (nothing)
Change user name to administrator and get on

The only thing that stays on the screen after it is turned on is his password sign in. It won't let me get passed that. Thanks for the responses.
