Thanks I've already did what you said and it didn't work,I think a trip to the puter Doc is next.

Right-click on My Computer, then go to Properties. Click on Hardware, then Device Manager, and you will see an area that you can uninstall the USB ports off (it will say Universal Serial Bus Controllers). It is HIGHLY unlikely that she did this by accident, though.

I might be wrong, but you can probably uninstall the ports here, then reboot the computer. It should recognize new hardware and reinstall them, but it's been awhile since I've done that so I can't be 100% sure. If it doesn't recognize them then you might have to manually remove them, then reboot (so that the computer recognizes that they're not there), then reinstall them and reboot again.

Unless you have a virus or something, though, it's more likely that the USB port itself is bad (especially since it's in a remanufactured laptop).

We got our child a lap top (HP) it worked fine ,Now the usb ports have quit working.They did work ok.It's a remanufactoried HP.
Is there a place where the ports can turned off and on in the commands or bios?The mouse will work on my CPU and the memory card but not on her's.She has to return to college Sunday so all help will greatly appreciated. Thank You
