Regarding photos, itunes and icloud. Both let you synch photos. Plus, remember the ipad 2 has a camera.
As for flash, it isn't hard to do flash on an ipad, it is impossible. But adobe recently decided to give up flash and move to html 5 (like steve jobs said they should years ago). Flash will be completely phased out by web designers soon

One thing you might look into is how to get and store photos on an ipad. My wife has one (original) and we bought the camera adapter for it. That worked great as we could unload the camera into the ipad with the adapter. Then we up graded the ipad and it would no longer work. Apple took this feature away. As of about six months ago she could not easily copy photos from flickr. Some other images just won't copy from other places, she never knows when it will no download. Flash is not something it will do easily, some youtube will work and some will not, same with facebook. We consider it more like a toy, in fact my android phone whips it to death.

Thanks! I have the desktop, so I'm really just looking for something that travels well. I'm leaning toward the iPad.

Really depends what you are going to use it for. If its just some web browsing and some light email, the iPad might be a better choice for you. But if you need a little more computing and will be doing more with it, then go with a laptop. Most of the time though, if you just want to buy one thing, the laptop is going to be the best idea. That is if you are talking a real laptop, and not one of those little netbooks. If you are looking at one of the netbooks, then get the iPad.

Tablets are bridge devices. They are great, but are a supplement to, not a substitute for a computer. If you already have a desktop, then yes, a tablet rather than a laptop. I have a XOOM. My wife has an ipad.

Opinions please. If you were going to buy one or the other, which would you get, and why?
