restart or turn it on and continue to press F8 till you get the options screen then click safe mode. if that dosnt work you need to see a Tech . I can help if you need ... ProTech Networks @ 336 262 2945(cell phone) ask for Joey. or protechnetworks@gmail.com.
if safe mode works you need to reinstall a video driver.

google came up with this
white arrow cursor dead center of the screen - and it is movable - with a very pretty black background.

1. Press CTL ALT DELete and the Task Manager will show up.
2. Go to Processes Tab
3. RIGHT click on "explorer.exe"
4. Select "End Process"
5. Left click on File on the menu bar
6. Select "New Task"
7. type "explorer" in the window that appears and press enter

Voila - you should have a proper rendering desktop appearing after that.

i'd guess it's a driver problem (software) or the video card due to a power spike from the "loose" connection, but if you can see windows booting up I'd think the card is ok.

best bet is to find someone with windows disks for the version of windows you have, and try a restore/re-install from the disk

Yesterday as I was using my Dell laptop the power cord came loose and it shut off. I fixed that and turned it back on. It comes on fine and windows starts up, then nothing. I can see the cursor, but that's it. A total black screen. Anyone with any helpful insight on how to fix it ???
Thanks
