I have had other batteries that will not stay charged, its like the memory effect in your cell phone. Sounds like a defective battery to me. Try cycling the battery from full charge until completely dead a few times, if it still gives you problems I would return it.

Fully charged 3 or 4 hour's if your lucky

How long does a new battery stayed charged...I got a new one and charged it and let it run down and it still will not stay charged
