You will need the adapter and a good VCR/DVD recording combo. I have several that have been transferred and many more to go.

I also have 8mm film soon to be transferred to digital. I have opted for the frame by frame method as I can then retouch or repair before burning to DVD.

These tapes are the small ones like you leave in a video camera..they are between 5 and 20 yrs old..

and it depends on what kind of tape they are on as to how easy/expensive it is to do it.
walmart and several other chain stores do it . and many businesses that kind of specialize in it

yes many ways some vhs/dvd combo's will do it, some pc video cards will do it and they make stand alone usb dongles that will do it similar to this ( http://www.sears.com/shc/s/...88114787-2 ) google's your friend . price range $25.00 and way on up.
a vhs/dvd combo that will do it ($75.00-$150.00 ish) is probably going to give you the least headaches.

Put them on dvds at home...I have a lot from when my kids where small and my parents when they were living and my kids sporting events and I have no way to watch them...
