Jdd, the store Apple Juice, did you have to leave it and if so, how long? How much does it cost? My daughter's got cracked pretty bad. Thanks.

The store apple juice in the mall in winston is great and they have very reasonable prices to fix cracked or broken screens. Just had one fixed there a couple weeks ago.

For Apple to cover it you have to separately purchase an accidental insurance policy. The one year limited warranty only covers the Ipod if it messes up to do a hardware malfunction. My two year old loves to play with ours all the time and we bought a good case for it because it gets dropped a lot. For some reason it has stopped wanting to charge and Apple is having me send it in since it is a hardware malfunction, but luckily we did purchase the accidental policy through the store because it was $17 verses $60 through Apple. I always buy the insurance because you just never know.

Did you not get an insurance plan with it? They cost like $4 or something like that.

The otter box is awesome! I've dropped my phone at least a hundred times! And it still works great! I only wish it were waterproof! I had a phone drop in the toil... Water once. My new startac or whatever they were. Luckily it dried out in the dehydrator. There is another brand of case that is waterproof, but I can never remember the name... Life-something-or-other. Now mind you I have yet to drop it directly on the corner directly on the face, but it does have a protective face cover. Anyhow...good luck getting it fixed, I would have cried my eyes out!

The Apple store in Greensboro is most helpful they have a good staff working there. I also would recommend the Otter Box.. I have had mine for 4 years on my apple Phone.

Mtn...if you drop it directly on it's face, a typical case probably isn't gonna save it. An otterbox, or one like it may. Let's say you drop an unprotected device on its edge, on the corner...the screen will most likely crack...i saw this everyday. You could see the point of impact and the, corresponding spider webbing of the glass. In these instances a case would've saved it. Any case or cover is better than none. I tell my kids if i ever see their devices out of the case, I'm taking it away...my sophomore daughter tried me. She just got her phone back. Insurance is another must have. I keep it on all of our devices until i have a line sleuth eligible to upgrade. Then i drop it on all devices.

RH does the case do that much good since the screen / glass is still exposed? I'm sure the perimeter guard helps but does it really provide that much real protection?
I have a more traditional case for my droid and being as it's about worn out I'm wondering which kind to replace it with.

I worked for Verizon for two years...it never ceased to amaze me how folks would buy a 600 dollar device, and not get a case....i
