I got it unlocked thanks...i just searched on the apple website
unfortunetly i lost everything in the process but I dont guess that matters since i have it saved on the computer

Have you tried a basic reset? Hold down the home button (bottom middle of screen) and the sleep button (upper left corner of devise) at the same time for 10-15 seconds until an Apple logo appears. I'm not sure if you can do this on a locked device, though.

as a matter of fact i broke the screen and just got the digitizer put in today thats why im asking the question its my ipod just the screen got busted and had no way to use it for awhile and forgot the password just because there are many thieves around doesnt mean that everybody is one

you only registered yesterday and asked this very odd question today?
how long have you owned it? generally people use passwords that are familiar to them. nothing jogs your memory?
i might be way out of line but i am calling bs on this post and telling ya you should return that ipod right where ou got it from. someone is looking for it.
