they CANNOT find out if it has if its been restored through itunes. it is possible to brick one yes if its not properly done or if u use the wrong program with the wrong update installed. but att/apple cant detect if its jailbroken unless u mess it up.

No, it's possible to brick an iphone/ipod touch with no chance of user recovery. Granted, these days it is unlikely, but it can happen. And with an iPhone, its also possible for apple/att to know if youve jailbroken/unlocked it. Fortunately, they are doing nothing about it currently and likely never will.
However - if you have one of these - I DO encourage you to jailbreak it using whatever method you prefer!

if its done right there is no damage. jailbreaking wont void it cause u can restore it back to original at any time. my iphone is jailbroken and working perfectly.

"you could do it yourself but if u mess it up it voids warrenty."
Doesn't successfully jailbreaking/unlocking void the warranty?
What if you damage my iPhone while jailbreaking it?
