Please, please use your iPad for more than games and movies/TV. it has so many more possibilities....
like ABC [news] all kinds of photography. weatherbug, astromony, pay your bills, research, books, transfer stuff from your laptop with iFiles. Buy a keyboard , get a camera adaptor, recipies, ESPN, NBC,
Resturant menus, drugs.com, med.com notes, , journal, teaching, relax m. hd, address book, reminders [like bithdays]----as I am writing this it occurs to me that I really could give a workshop on the "iPad"
I think I would have alot to offer, if you are interested reply to this notice - thanks

You get what you pay for. Maybe in a few years, Emerson or Kraco will introduce a tablet that suits EVERYONE's budget! Fish tacos for the masses!

I fully understand the loyalty to an over-priced, over-rated company. Heck I'd still be paying AOL $24.95 a month for dial-up if I hadn't found the Mafia using my unused online storage for p**n.

Best games...Infinity Blade, Infinity Blade II, ORC, The Bard's Tale. Agent Dash isn't bad, and there are a lot of apps that make it a lot of fun. I'd get Infinity Blade II first, it showcases what the new iPad can do.

Ive tried other OS's in Androids, and I prefer Apple. Ive really enjoyed mine, as I also have an iPhone, and an iMac, and they integrate seamlessly. I don't know if you got the 16GB, 32GB, or 64 GB version, but if you have the 16GB, prepare to delete a lot of apps when you are finished with them. Depending on what you want to do, the Kindle Fire isnt a bad choice, and Toshiba has a tablet that actually has a Sandisk memory expansion slot. My biggest complaint re: the iPad is, you cannot add memory. You CAN reload any programs you delete that you have purchased before, but it seems like it would have been simpler if they had built a proprietary memory card. If you have Verizon as a service provider, they offer the "10 devices connected" incentives plan, which might entice you to go for the "G" verson and Wi-Fi, if hook-up on the go is an absolute "must". Otherwise, you can get the Wi-Fi only version and save $100.

The Retina display looks stunning. I don't think you will be disappointed, Im having more fun with mine that I ever thought I would.

Let me see.. shell out $400 for an ipad or $100 for an ice cream sandwich. I can't decide.

Another issue with android apps though is, as I learned almost the hard way, the google market isn't secure. App purchases are processed by the developers credit card system. I found this out when I tried to buy an app and my bank shut down my card because the charge was being processed in one of the old soviet countries where 80% of all credit card processes are fraud. It's a perfect setup for identity theft. I was shocked when I learned that google lets it work this way.

I also like android. But I just found too many issues between hardware manufacturers and updates breaking the software.

Well to write an app for android is free....to write for apple, you first have to buy the code from apple. That is not necessarily a bad thing...it means apples apps are vetted...
There are a lot of honyauks out there putting out apps that will lock up your android...anyway, I am not a developer. I like my apples and androids for different reasons. Up until may 18, I worked for Verizon and sold a ton of both.

RH, to be more specific, it is easier to write an android app for one device. However, to make it work on multiple phones and tablets, the developer may have to rewrite the app multiple times. And like you said, they change android versions and you may be screwed again.

As for flash, adobe dropped support and development of flash about a yea ago. Basically they admitted Steve jobs was right. The flash issue on websites will become less and less of an issue going forward. However it is irritating when you run into the issue.

Ice cream sandwich? Honeycomb? You are making me hungry. I really do need to research what all that stuff means.

Fins makes some good points. But it is easier to write an app for android...and free. But if you write an app for honeycomb, and the os changes to ice cream sandwich, the app may not work.
I have an iPad, an ipod, and 2 android phones, and 2 android tablets, so i am covered. Ipad is limited as far as web browsing though...it doesnt support flash.

Thanks again Fins. I'm learning a lot.

My Kindle 3g (black and white) does have a browser and I can get on gowilkes, facebook, yahoo..etc. It's just slow as molasses so I don't do it unless I am riding in the car and bored to tears. I'm too cheap to buy a cell phone with internet. I am on the waiting list to join Republic Wireless...which is a plan that includes everything for 19 a month. I know it's probably not going to be perfect and a cheap, glitchy service, but I honestly won't use it that much. I will be on a wi fi network most often so I think it is a good plan for someone like me who doesn't make a lot of calls or texts. I literally use less than 100 minutes a month if that. I'm in wave F of their waiting list so I hope I will get to join soon.

3g service usually does require a monthly bill, but on the old Kindles you can literally hook up to 3g for free anywhere it is available. So you can use it riding in the car free...without any extra bills. I guess that is too good to be true with a color device. :(

Both amazon and Barnes and noble negotiated deals with at&t for their e-readers to have 3G access for free. This way customers can buy books no matter where they are. But it only allows you to connect to their services to buy books. I think they may have played with some web content, but with their black and white simulated print screens, itself browseing doesn't work any way.

They would never do Free service for android devices because of the amount of bandwidth it would eat up. AT&T already has a problem with trying to have enough bandwidth for their smartphone customers.

I've spent a lot of time researching and reviewing android tablets. And in the end, none are as intuitive and easy to use as the iPad. Also, because android is open source and manufacturers change it for their own benefit, it isn't as stable. Like windows versus Mac. The final straw for me was the consistency across all apple devices. I can use the same content on all my iPads, iPods, iPhones, and appleTV. And the interfaces are the same across the board (AppleTV is kind of different).

Satan we'll start you out slow with Draw Something. It's fun as heck and there is no winner. You just draw and try to keep a winning streak going. The longest streak I have with a friend is almost 400 which probably sucks. Some of the crap I draw looks like a two year old drew it.

38 is your Nook the Nook Color or the Nook Tablet? My Kindle Fire only hooks to wireless. I'd love one that hooked to 3g and wireless.
