If skybest is your ISP, then a specialized gaming router isn't going to make much of a difference over a standard home use router...

speaking of routers.... what do you think about this d-link dgl-4100 router? http://www.amazon.com/D-Lin...B0006TIA0C i would be using it for a ps3. will it work since skybest uses dhcp address? would i have to contact skybest first? this is what it says on their website: SkyBest modems are preconfigured for SkyBest Broadband Internet Service. If you would like to use your customer-owned modem, please bring it by our
SkyLine/SkyBest Customer Service Center for testing.

1 Switch
or If you have an old router you can use it like a switch by spanning the IP across the switch ports. Simply hook one of your router port (1-4) to any port on the old router other than the Uplink port.
Option 2 use the uplink port but disable DHCP on the old router in most cases this will work and is technically the correct way to do it
if you use an old router its free.

like ant flo said just get a cheap switch and that will work fine if all the pcs can be hard wired into teh system. If not then you will need to get some wireless adapters for teh other PCs or make sure they have wireless built into the PC when they are purchased.

BTW, this switch, and most others under $100, is unmanaged. It's literally plug and play with your router, there is no special setup needed with it. Just plug it inline and go!

If two or more of the computers are close together, and you dont want to do wireless, then by a cheap switch...Plug it into the router in place of a PC, then plug the PC's into the switch...
Here is a cheap one, new, for $10 shipped. http://www.newegg.com/Produ...6833166034
I'd recommend wireless, but if you dont have any wireless gear already, you'd be at least $100 in getting them all setup with a new wireless router...
