Have to go with wilkesman2 on this one. Charter is quite impressive in this area.

HughesNet/Wildblue have a 4 to 6 second delay, good for serfing but worse then dial-up for online gaming Also they are not worth the price for the (lower then everyone else) speeds.
Charter will give you 5 Mbps for $35 a month for 6 months then it goes to $55. Plus another $5 for renting a modem.
Embarq will give 5 Mbps for $40 per month for 6 months then it ….. stays at $39 per month and no extra for the modem. 3Mbps I think is $30 per month.

wilkes tele. dsl is very unreliable, hughes net is even worse, Charter cable is the way to go.

options depend on where you live. There is Embarq, Charter, Skybest, Fastransit, Wildblue.... and I think I spells part of them wrong.

Currently we have dial up and were looking into upgrading to high speed? I dont know anything about it so any information on providers and information on what the options are would be greatly appreciated.
