Your welcome.
Here are some specific programs that will help keep your system running smooth. Just google them to download.
1. malwarebytes - good malware scanner
2. tdsskiller - good rootkit scanner
3. bitdefender - make a rescue cd. (free)
4. hitman pro - use for one time scanning free. (scans issues that attack antivirus programs). If your antivirus program stops working - try this and it will in most cases resolve the issue(s) - especially if you use Microsoft Security Essentials.

One thing you can do is try another browser, IE Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Also check in your add-ons and delete all of the add-ons that are not necessary, like toolbars and malicious software.
Also check to see if you IE needs to be updated, and last but not least, since it is IE we are talking about system restore can help it to work again, since it is an actual system tool instead of an installed program.
The only other thing that would do any good is to double check your malware and antiviral programs for updates and run a full system scan. If that doesn't catch anything, you can always start up the computer in safe mode with networking enabled and see if the IE works.
That's the laundry list of things that help IE.

Thanks RetiredVet. I tried what you suggested and it seems to have worked. Thanks again.

Reset your internet settings.
1. open up internet explorer.
2. click on "tools" on the menu bar (at the top)
3. click on "internet options"
4. click on the "advanced tab"
5. click on "reset"
This will also disable add-ons which may be causing your issue.

A lot of things can cause IE to crash. Can you elaborate some on what exactly you're doing when the crash occurs?
Do you have any 3rd party addons that you've installed?

I will be on my computer and a window pops up and says that Internet Explorer has stopped working. I thought it was my computer that was the problem but I have recently bought a new laptop and it still does it. What causes this?
