My thoughts exactly chris. I had just read something about staples chargeing an elderly woman 150/hr ...... i wasnt sure if i would breath again lol. So it got me wondering what the fairest way would be.

Same here, I charge a flat rate if it's brought to me. The only time I charge more is if I have to travel due to the gas prices. I see no sense of say charging $50/hr to reload an os when the DVD does all the work for you, "for the most part."

I charge a flat rate for most services, but I have very low overhead.

What do you guys think is the best way to charge for computer tech. Service these days and times? Hourly? By the job? One flat rate? Also curious about something else, assumeing your formating somone computer andgiving it a fresh os, do you keep your labor time ticking while you sit and do nothing while it installs or what? Im actually assumeing most people charge a flat rate for cleaning out and installing os's, but im bored as **** and im trying to get some convo goin
