If you're asking about using one for a virtualized desktop on your local PC, then go for Hyper V instead of Oracle VirtualBox.

We use Hyper V at work and works well since we don't have a huge deployment of Hyper V hosts. Vmware EsXi works awesome as well and is what I use on a box that runs Spiceworks. Both are free and work well, just varies on your need. Also Citrix XenServer is free as well and is a solid solution. HyperV is already built into the Roles in Server 2012 or Windows 8 in the Turn Windows Features on or off. IMO HyperV for small deployments and EsXi for larger scale deployments.

Anyone use both? Any preference?
