If you're on XP, then while you're under Properties, there should be a field called "Position". Make sure that this is set to "Stretch", which means that it will automatically resize the picture to fit the screen.

Nope, done tried that. But thanks anyway. The "normal" size picture that I had as my desktop is now magnified, and I have tried everything I can think of, and any picture I try to put on the desktop to personalize it now is a picture that is oversized.

Right click on the desktop and click Properties. Properties will be at the bottom. Unless you are running Vista, then it will be called Personalize. From there you will be able to change your desktop background.

My 10 year old niece was playing with my laptop. I have a picture of my nieces set as my desktop background. Since she was at my house, the background has been magnified like 100%.
I went to my pictures and tried to add a different picture as a background, but any I add are magnified. I can't figure out how to get the picture back to a normal size. Please help. I have tried everything and I can't figure it out.
