I have had good luck with an adapter and external antenna ($10 each) from a truck stop

If you husbands phone works and your will work if you stand in the right spot I'd bet money you just need a newer phone (yours may be goofed like mine was in some way) or your phone may just need a software update. ..i'm no expert but I just went through a similar ordeal.

If you get this resolved in under 6hrs of dealing with the phone company count your blessings ... delt with sprint for about a week and total of 6hrs before they replaced my phone.

Hi Law thanks for your suggestions. My phone works everywhere great except my home. It works once you walk up our drive way a few feet. We kind of do live in a dip between trees in the woods, but our home is actually on a hill. My husband has Verizon and it works fine in our home. My old Tracfone worked fine in our home and we also had Carolina West and it worked great. I love Cingular though because of the no roaming anywhere in the US and I mainly use mine when we go out of town. I wanted to be able to use it in any county in NC without having to pay extra. The only downside is it not working in our home.

Oh I forgot, our roof isn't tin. I tried to do a search on the antenna but didn't have any luck. I guess I just need to break down and call cingular and ask about it, but I kind of wanted an idea of price and installation before I did.

oh two more things:

1. Does your house have a metal roof?

2. Do you drop calls frequently else where and/or get no reception?

I don't live in Wilkes so I am not familar with the coverage areas but I just had a similar problem with my Sprint Cell phone.

1. Check to make sure that you are in Cingular Coverage area and that there is no tower outages reported in your area.

2. If you live between two hills ... in wilkes refered to as a Hollow or Hollar you might be screwed.

3. Note the Cell phone company will tell you that they don't guarantee service inside a structure...but a Tech Guy with sprint confirmed my thoughts that unless you are in a bunker it should work (as long as ur in the service area)

4. If all the above check out .. .then It good simply be your Cell phone....after much hassle with Sprint I managed to get a new (free) cell phone ... NO PROBLEMS NOW.

As for the Antenna thing I'll have to research it but I'd do that as last resort.
