Have you searched through the sound applet controls to see if any of the settings have been changed?

I would call a 1800 number to the maker. Also, if you google the type of the computer and volume, you will probably get your answer on a tech site. Just type in for example "Gateway volume not working"

I can't get the sound to work on my laptop! Can someone please help me? And the mute is not on....lol!
