After reading your most recent post on this thread twice I had a duh moment. I would like to think that the previous tech tried backing up the data with an adapter and this failed, else you wouldn't still have issues preserving your data. You are correct in that assumption, I would tend to believe Redneck.

In this case you might wont to try some data recovery software. Not much of it is free but if it works is it not well worth a small fee. I would say Yes, most definitely. Take it to Bennett first. If that doesn't work than try some professional data recovery software you may find online.

I do actually haves some boot disk to access your partitions and then backup up your data. If your drive is failing however, your best bet is probably to use an adapter. I have had pc's fail to access partitions before and then the adapter work right off the bat. This is why for a failing drive an adapter is your best option. I am purchasing one of these in a few days so I can use it to backup data in the future. It really streamlines the process of data backup and restoration.

I don't know you or anyone else that has posted on this topic, or the people that worked on your computer previously.
I believe that the previous tech would had preformed data recovery if it was as simple as hooking the drive up (after all that is his profession).
But here are programs and tools available that he may not have had.
Bennett seems knowledgeable and says he has the tools to perform data recovery and is willing to give it a try.
Take it to him and save the cost of the adaptor ( BTW the hard drive would still connect to its original computer) going to another tech is no different that getting a second doctors opinion.

Try an Sata or IDE to usb adapter and plug that in to another PC's usb port. This should allow you to backup your data. These can be found for cheap @ amazon.com and possibly on ebay to. Get a good one. The cheaper ones I've read don't work as well. This is your best shot. We used to do this when I was working a short time for Double Edge Technologies INC, in North Wilkesboro.

If the drive spins thare is a possibility that data can be recovered, give bennett a shot, if it dosen't spin up trash it.

It depends. if the drive will power on there is a small chance. Otherwise it is most likely lost. I have the tools an would be willing to try. PM ME

My Hard Drive crashed and the Tech that replaced at Computer Express said he could not retreive any memory. Is there anyone else that might help?
