The Garmin Nuvi series are good GPS's to buy. Most of them come with free lifetime map updates. This is an important thing to remember when looking for a GPS. Yes, you can get around ones that require you to pay for the updates, but it's easier if you already get them for free.

My daughter wants a gps for christmas because her phone does not work well for traveling. I want one that will update so that I don't have to pay for that every year. I'm really not sure what I need. Could someone please give me info on this so I don't get ripped off. Thanks
