1. Even though the site is mobile-friendly, we don't see a lot of mobile traffic, so there's really not that much of a demand for one.

This trend exists worldwide; there's a lot of talk about mobile, but in practice it's not as popular as the media makes it out to be.

2. Currently, there's no way for us to make money on an app. On a web page, we can show 6 ads (we could actually show more, but we stick to 6 for aesthetics), but on a mobile screen we could only show 1 (and that would be pretty intrusive). Very few businesses advertise on mobile apps, though, so their value is about 1/100th of a web page ad. We still have to pay for bandwidth and server space, though, so we would lose money.

The mobile app is one of the areas that Facebook loses the most money. As of 2012, roughly 50% of their traffic came from mobile, but they don't show any ads on mobile so they lose money every time someone uses mobile over a computer.

Until there's a significant demand for an app, more businesses advertise on mobile, and the value of the ads increase, it's just not feasible for us to make that investment. The site should be mobile-friendly, though, so if you're having a problem on your mobile then please let me know.
