No one has rated the Palm as the "superior smart phone". Even the article that you linked below says it doesnt out do the iPhone, it can only out perform in a few features.

Palm is dead. I honestly cant figure out how they are still in business. Business users dumped them a long time ago for BlackBerry's exchange servers and moble synching. No manufacturers write software for them. Pick up any tech magazine and it will be loaded with products that advertise iPhone and Droid integration.

So Opera Mini doesnt work. And being that Apple, Google, and Rim are all bigger than GoWilkes, and this is the only forum Ive found that is a problem on their browsers, it seems to me the problem isnt on their side.

Sadly, "good" is rarely synonymous with "popular." People tend to like the worst crap on the market, thanks mostly to more glamorous marketing.

Few techies would deny that Linux is infinitely better than Windows, but does it hold 1% of the market? Doubtful. Same with Firefox; it has about a 2% penetration, but most would argue that it's much better than Internet Explorer.

Yeah, palms are superior. Thats why they are barely holding on to less than 1% of the market share. Im in an indsutry that is driven by the latest technology and is full of nothing but geeks that get aroused over the top electronics. And out of all the techs and programmers I deal with all over the country, NONE have a palm. Sure, you may like a Palm, but I none of your users are using palm. They are using BlackBerry, Droid, and iPhone. So it makes all the sense in the world to make a site that wont work on any of their mobile devices.

As for Apple and flash, they had some very good points about flash. It is a resource hog, and with newer languages its not really needed any more. The down side to their argument is a whole lot of websites havent moved away from flash yet.

Apple's not big on standards. They do things their way, then demand that everyone else conform. Take their decision to not allow support of Flash, which is only the most popular video format on the web!

They're a bunch of bullies, which is why to date I've bought zero Apple products. That plus the "Apple tax"...a computer with that little Apple logo costs as great as twice as much as a PC with nearly identical hardware. Once Apple changed to Intel architecture, it became even more clear how much they over-charge!

Yeah, I know...the Mac OS is more stable and trouble-free, based on Unix. Blah, blah, blah. So's Ubuntu, and it's FREE, and compatible with most everything out there. I run it on my flea-powered netbook, and it makes it zip!

The Palm Pre just came out late last year. And it's considered the more superior of the smartphones; you can write your own apps, it's easily expandable, has the ability to run multiple programs at once, and (apparently) has a superior browser:

Wow, someone still has a Palm?

Not all websites use rich HTML. We used it for several years, but had it only for IE browsers. With the latest design, I worked to make sure it was compatible with Firefox and Chrome.

My mobile is a Palm Pre, and it works fine with it, too. I didn't know at the time that other phones were released with an inferior browser.

I also find it interesting that this site wont work with iPhone, BlackBerry, or Android devices. But as the OP said, all other forums dont have a problem. Seems like its more of a problem with this site than the browser in the mobile devices.

Thanks for the response. It just seems odd that the Apple mobile browsers have no problems with any other board I use. Just wondered why. Hopefully, they'll get it updated soon.

It's actually a flaw in the browser that ships with the iPhone. We use rich HTML, and their browser has a fault that doesn't recognize it properly. Apple has stated that they hope to correct this bug with a future release, though.

Opera has a version for the iPhone that you can download, though, and it might work. I've had mixed reports on it, so I'm not entirely sure. It's called "Opera Mini". I don't have a link handy, but you should be able to find it easily by searching Google for "Opera Mini".

I'm not sure if it's the same for the iPad, but I would think so.

What's the possibility that GoWilkes will ever have a format of posting that is compatible with iPhone/iPad? I can post to every other forum/board I frequent except GoWilkes. What's up with that anyway? Since I started using my iPad, I barely have a need for a laptop any more, except with some business applications. Apple is selling millions of these devices in a relatively short period of time; the problem will begin to affect more and more people.
