Thanks for the info, all.
Crypt, I don't have any problem building an app myself. The problem is that there's no way to generate revenue on them! Each pageview costs more in bandwidth than it generates in ad revenue.
Until mobile ads become more valuable, creating an app would be fiscal suicide

Before OC claims that I'm using the GoWilkes server as a supernode to stream Miley Cyrus videos I can tell you it's not humanly possible to design a website that will work flawlessly across all platforms. For around $150 an hour I will begin work on the gowilkes app for Android.

Just so you know, Jason, I haven't had any problems in a couple of weeks. Not since my earlier post on it, anyway.

I remember you said that you were on dial-up before, so that really could be an ISP issue. This is different from the issue dale61 mentioned; he was connecting to the server but getting a database error, and I suspect that he was trying to load a thread that had been deleted.
If it happens again, there are a few things I'm hoping you'll try:
1. Assuming you're using gowilkes.com, try going to gonc.co to see if you get the same error (that's a .CO, not a .COM). That's really a mirror for the site, so if it works but gowilkes.com doesn't then the issue is with the domain name, or your internet provider's DNS server.
2. If gonc.co doesn't come up, either, then check to see if other sites come up, like Google. If Google comes up, but neither GoWilkes.com nor GoNC.co come up, then the problem may be with our server.
3. On your computer, click on Start > Run, then type "cmd". In the box that opens, type:
tracert gowilkes.com
and press Enter. This should return about 30 lines that show each connection (called a "hop") getting from your computer to GoWilkes. An * on any of those lines show a broken connection.
Once it's done, copy and paste the entire result in to an email to me, so I can see where it's breaking down.

I did a search, and it looks like you've been sending them to "go wilkes" (with a space), which isn't the same as "GoWilkes" (without the space).
The username "go wilkes" belongs to me, too, but it's not one that I ever check. I just have it reserved so that no one can impersonate me with it.
I'll have to copy those to my account and reply later tonight.

Shagbag, about 2 years ago we started implementing "sessions", which do set a cookie on your computer to link your computer to the session. This doesn't track you at all, it just saves the server the additional database query of determining which county site you're on.
If you delete your cookies mid-session, then your next page load might not be right. But if you hit refresh, or view a second page, it should be fine again.
I am also having problems with misspelled words and poor sentence structure. That has to be caused by the GW server and Jason refuses to fix it. I blame Al Gore, and by proxy, Obama.

I have to agree with you on this Issue. Jason should already know what I am going to Type before I do it and Auto-magically fix it

The only issue I have is when I delete the tracking cookies and I have to log in my user name the site says the web page is not found. When I click on the site I'm logged in. It been like this for a while but that is the only real problem I have which is no big deal.

The error you're specifically getting occurs when the database can't find the subject of the thread that you're viewing. That verbiage is only found when you're viewing a thread, not the list of subjects.
Can you please send me a link to the thread that you're trying to view when you get that error?
You mentioned "several problems", so can you please describe any other problem you're having?
