IN outlook, you will have to go to settings and find the archive option, and form there it will set up an auto-archive feature taht saves selected folders at predetermined intervals.

I have all those you mentioned. I also have outlook express that I have forgotten how to use. Go a new provider but forgot how to set it up.

Depends on what email you use; Gmail, yahoo, and other popular free email providers keep all of your stuff in their cloud storage as long as you don't delete it from your email completely.
As far as outlook goes, there are several ways to backup your email directly to your HDD or to Disk.

Is there a way to backup your email accounts to your HDD? I have been cutting & pasting my important messages and this is very time consuming.
