Forget "administrator" log in for virus removal. Go straight for the "Safe Mode" virus removal. During the boot process, press F8 repeatedly, if done correctly, Windows will give you several boot options like "Boot Windows Normally", "Last Known Good Configuration", etc. Choose either "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode with Networking" (if you need to access the Internet for virus removal). Try your virus removal steps from within safe mode and see if this helps remedy the problem or not.

I have a Dell b120 Inspirion laptop and I cannot get logged on as the administrator. As far as I know no password was ever set. My son-in-law said he did not use a password. I need to remove traces of a virus that is apparently still on there but it won't let me, says I must log on as the administrator. Does anybody know how I can do this. Any help greatly appreciated.
