Also check your firewall. I had the same problem and the firewall on one computer would not let it sign on.
Also, does your mom's wireless use your modem? If not it could be your modem. Even if the lights are all on and even if Charter tells you it is working. Had that problem twice. Had to replace modem.

Thanks guys, when I got home today my husband had a friend come over, I am not exactly sure what went wrong, but its working now. I do appriciate your help.

Satan is right, that's about all that I can think of, too. If one computer is working, but the other isn't, then it's not the connection and it's not the modem. If someone didn't uninstall it, then either there's a program that's blocking your ISP port, or your card went bad.

Did you install any programs recently that might be causing a conflict? If so, uninstall them and see if that helps.

If not, then run a virus and spyware scan (download Ad Aware from http://www.download.com if you don't have it; it's free), and remove anything that could potentially be harmful.

If that doesn't help, then the only thing left really is the card or cable.

Just a thought. Are the two computers networked together? If so, then you might be able to just hook the modem up to your mom's computer instead of yours, and then connect through her computer.

my best guess....bad ethernet card or cable ?

I am on charter internet, I have two computers, well on is my moms and then mine. My computer has the modem hooked up on it and my mothers has the wireless connector to hers. Mine has got knocked off line now and I have unpluged the modem and checked the connections and waited 3 minutes and then tried to get back on and it still wont get back on. But on my mothers computer you can get on line. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong to get my computer back on line? Thanks in advance
