Thanks for your help Satan. That link you provided actually had an answer that says even though that one I was looking at won't work there is another one I can buy. I am now trying to figure out if they actually will work and which one to buy. I appreciate your help.

Re: Does the ATI Radeon 3100 support TV-Out through the RGB port?

I have tried one of those adapters with my M1330, didn’t work. And there were few others who reported the same thing with different notebooks.. I’m not so sure if they work at all. If they do, then perhaps with a very limited set of graphics adapters and TVs.

But these will definitely work. They are signal converters (not just a simple cable), therefore you don't need special driver support, will work with any VGA output.

it's not that I am worried about wasting the money. it's just that I think I remember reading a few years ago that you can fry your computer by trying to do something like this if it doesn't supposed to. I may be off about that but didn't want to risk hurting anything.

I have a toshiba that is about three months old. it's a satellite l455d s5976. I would like to know if I can connect it to a television. I found on the internet that I can buy a cable to do this. On ebay one that is for sale said to make sure my laptop had the correct card but I don't know how to figure that out. below is what it said and here is a link to it. Would it work or how do i figure out if mine can even do this? I did find connect to a projector optoin on it, but not tv. Is there anyway to do it if it only has projector option?

Before place the bid, please be sure to check the manual of your system to make sure the Video Card of your system supports TV (RCA/S-Video) output through VGA port. Not every Video card will work with this adaptor. Only certain Video cards which have TV Output function built into VGA port will work through this adaptor.
