Try view hidden files - maybe somehow your pictures files "properties" were changed to hidden. If you don't know how to display hidden files - just google it for your Operating System. IE: XP, Windows 7, Windows 8...

They are not in my recycle bin and I have tried looking everywhere else. I will try the recuva. If I still can't find them, anyone have any recommendations on someone who might can try for me? Thanks for all the answers!

For faster searching, make sure Indexing is turned on.

Also try doing a search for just picture files In the search box type *.jpg (* is a wildcard and will search for every JPG file on your computer.)

Yes it's possible to recover lost photos. Most pictures if not configured differently, will be stored in your My Documents folder. Make sure to have a look around in there to see if you can find them.

Do you remember sending them to the recycle bin? Have you look at the recycle bin icon on your desktop to make sure that it's not showing to have stuff deleted in it?

Also as far as retrieving them back if you did delete them, there is a free program called Recuva made by the same company who made CCleaner and Speccy. Try downloading that program, and give it a shot.

As far as the backups go, my recommendation is to get a good size *1TB* external hard drive and start backing up to it. You can use the built in windows backup to achieve your task, or you can try other products as well. Personally I use Crashplan, and I love it and have never had any problems with it. It's free as well with an option to purchase for cloud backups and etc..

Is it possible to recover lost photos on a computer. I don't think I deleted them but have searched everywhere and can't find them. Also, I take a lot of photos, what is the best and least expensive way to back them up that will last?
