Once when mine did the same thing all I had to do was clean ALL the fan blades and that took care of the problem. Mine wass an HP tower.

I'll do it and I am all of what you described. I can provide references if requested. I'm in the Millers Creek Area. That is a very small charge. I can do that for 20.00 bucks. No Problem. That is a well under 1 hour job. I can also scan it for infections ensuring the backed up data is clean and infection free.

Unless your computer savvy, I wouldn't be taking your new computer apart - if something went wrong you might void the warranty. For that reason and the ones mentioned by Chris, That's what I suggested the external adapter (works on SATA and IDE drives).

Depends on the computer, you never specified if he got a laptop or a desktop? Is the hard drive a SATA Connection * a real thin cable with 2 small ends* or an IDE connection * a real long cable that's thick with wide ends that are flat*? Your better off if the new hard drive has nothing on it, to reformat it and use it for the OS and then use the other hard drive as a secondary hard drive for extra storage or backup usage. Also can you tell us the sizes of the HDDS? They are listed on the front of the Hard drives. You'll want the biggest hard drive for storage and the other hard drive for the OS because it'll only use roughly around 40gb of storage depending on what you want on it.
Hope this helps,
Thanks, Chris

Can he take the old hard drive out of the computer and just put it in the new one? Is that something a pro would have to do? It doesn't have to be put on a portable one, matter fact, it would be better if he could just use his new computer off his old drive in addition to the new hard drive he has now. Thanks for the advice!

Cheapest way is to take the hard drive out of the old system, buy this little gadget from amazon for 16 bucks, connect the drive and plug into a USB port on your new computer and you can get anything off the old drive you need (providing the old drive is still good). http://www.amazon.com/Drive...sb+adapter

If the broken pc is a laptop then you can go to walmart or on-line to newegg.com to order a 2.5" hard drive enclosure. If if the broken pc is a desktop(tower) pc then you will need a 3.5" hard drive enclosure. Once you have the appropriate enclosure all you need to do is remove the hard drive from the broken pc, place it in the enclosure, plug the cable into the enclosure, plug the other end into the USB port on the new pc, Wait for the pc to find the drive then drag and drop the data you want to the new drive. But installed programs may have to be re-installed due to certain registry files being changed. Also if the old pc has a different operating system ie old pc has Windows 7 and new one has Windows 8 then certain files will have to be re-downloaded. But basic data ie documents/photos/videos should have no issue. If you have any questions please fell free to pm me.

My son has a new computer. His old one just died completely and will not even turn on. I am looking for someone who can get the information off the hard drive and onto a portable hard drive. Someone who is honest, reputable, and reasonable. Thank you.
