Take off the lens cap?

Try removing the lens and re-seating it. Try a different lens if you have more than one. Does it autofocus OK, on both ranges of the stock lens? does it just click, or does it make the 'taking a picture' noise? Does the flash fire?

Other than that, maybe the mirror is locked - permanently. The sensor could be shot. Do you know how many pics you've run through it?

The card worked fine up to a certain point .. I was taking photos of my newborn grandbaby in the hospital nursery when the camera just stopped recording the photos. When I inserted a different card, I could see the photos on that card fine, I could also see the photos that I had previously taken on the card in the camera when it failed. I did that to try to determine if it was the lcd screen instead of the camera ... found out that it is not the card or the screen ... when I take a photo now, it shows up as a black photo on the card and screen ... Thank you for your response, I appreciate any ideas you may have.

So a card from a different functioning camera allowed yours to work properly?

Try formatting your old card in your camera - not on the PC.

I have a Canon Rebel XT camera that quit taking pictures. I have changed the memory card, lense & battery but still no photo .. the photo does not show on the screen nor it is on the memory card .. I tried it in another camera. I took a card from another camera and used it in mine and I could see the photos on the screen as expected. The camera flashes and "Clicks" but no photo .. any ideas? Thanks!
